Trip Overview

Langtang Helambu Trek is one of the closest to Kathmandu. This trek is situated 51km north of Kathmandu and offers magnificent views of the Himalayas; Langtang Lirung Langtang (7246m), Thrimzhung Gang (6388m), Naya Kangri (5846m), Yala peak (5700m) and Dorji Lhakpa (6966m). This trek is rich in biodiversity with its flora & fauna. This is a classic trek to Langtang valley and on to the beautiful Gosainkund lakes followed by the crossing of the Laurebina La pass (4610m/25,124 ft). The Langtang valley then opens up to an alpine plateau with fine views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal. From the lodges at Kyangin Gompa you can explore the impressive glaciated upper valley surrounded by high Himalayan peaks. The trek up to Gosainkund takes you through the high alpine zone before we cross the Laurebina La pass adorned with Buddhist prayer flags. From here we descend into the Helambu valley with breathtaking views north to the Himalayas and south to forested hills and the city of Kathmandu. The main people in Langtang are the Tamang with their rich culture. This type of tea house trekking along the trail gives us an opportunity to experience the great views of the mountains not to be found elsewhere. This trek is accessible without flights.
